In some way, I’ve always had music in my life as my parents are both classically trained musicians. When I listen to music, I imagine stories and emotional tales that transcend generations. I find myself looking for life lessons embedded within musical lyrics. In many unique ways, music brings people together that otherwise would never gather.
I was a big supporter of the Ottawa Folkfest, where musicians came from across the world to perform and to record their improvisational jams. Though I have never played there myself, I also like to jam with my friends and try and blend musical styles like they did at Folkfest. My own musical background allows me to bring my classical training to other musical genres that I contribute to like Heavy Metal. I formerly played in a Metal band with one of my oldest friends. My professional life doesn’t leave enough time for me to play in bands any more, but this type of creativity has been useful to me later in life.
