Simon Mack is an experienced engineering leader and RF systems specialist with over 20 years of experience spanning telecommunications, satellite systems, and advanced hardware design. He holds a Master of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University and has built a career at the intersection of deep technical expertise and organizational leadership.
Simon currently serves as a Hardware Systems Lead at Zoleo, where he leads the development and integration of complex hardware systems for satellite-connected devices. In this role, he works across RF, digital, power, and embedded domains, driving system-level architecture, cross-functional coordination, and product execution from concept through deployment. His focus is on delivering reliable, field-ready communication systems that perform in demanding real-world environments.
Prior to joining ZOLEO, Simon held senior leadership roles at Syntronic R&D Canada, including Engineering Manager and RF Hardware Design Manager. He led large multidisciplinary teams and was responsible for end-to-end hardware delivery for advanced 5G/ORAN radio systems, covering system design, simulation, PCB development, manufacturing, and validation for Tier 1 customers. Earlier in his career, he contributed as an RF Hardware Designer, solving complex challenges in RF integration, signal integrity, and system performance in next-generation wireless platforms.
Simon also spent time at ORBCOMM as a Product Application Engineer and Manager, where he led cross-functional teams developing satellite M2M and fleet management solutions. He managed major customer programs with global companies such as Volvo and Komatsu and supported product lines contributing to approximately $125 million in annual revenue.
His academic background includes research in RF systems and circuit design, supported by prestigious awards such as the NSERC CGSM Alexander Graham Bell Scholarship. His work has been published in leading conferences, and his technical foundation spans antennas, radar systems, and signal processing.
Outside of his professional work, Simon pursues a range of creative and athletic interests. He is an avid photographer, with a focus on capturing candid and dynamic moments, often blending technical precision with artistic storytelling. A trained percussionist, he has performed with the Ottawa Youth Orchestra at the National Arts Centre, reflecting a longstanding passion for music and performance. Simon is also active in soccer, where he contributes as both a player and coach, and enjoys road biking, applying the same discipline and endurance found in his professional life to long-distance cycling.
Simon is recognized for his ability to bridge system-level thinking with hands-on engineering, build high-performing teams, and deliver complex hardware solutions in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments
